Grade 8 Science

Welcome to the JSMS grade 8 science learning community!  Our greatest area of focus in 8th grade is biology with some chemistry connections.  Students will participate in outdoor field work, lab work, and a variety of projects collaborating with small groups. 

 

There will be a balance of full class, small group, and independent work throughout the year.  Eighth grade students can expect some homework in science from time to time, but those who use their class time efficiently will be likely to meet most class expectations and finish most assignments during the class time provided.

 

Students looking to go above and beyond basic expectations may find that they have more homework if they choose to take a project to a higher level.  Some students may choose to participate in a supported independent study this year in preparation for Honors Biology at Windham High School in 9th grade.
